Getting started with ‘Get Active Outdoors’

06 Aug 2025

Do you want to move more outdoors while also working on a personal theme? You can, together with De Buiten Beweging! In this article, we’ll tell you more about the trainers and the coaching program you can follow with them.

Meet the trainers

Babette Biemans
In her work as a physical therapist and lecturer in physiotherapy, Babette quickly discovered that movement is about more than just using your muscles. Moving your body provides both energy and relaxation. It also brings a sense of freedom, happiness, and confidence. In her physiotherapy practice, she increasingly encountered challenges that prevented her from helping people in the way she wanted. These insights, combined with her love for being outdoors and adventure, eventually led to the founding of De Buiten Beweging together with Jesper. Today, she helps people who feel stuck — both physically and mentally — to positively change their behavior through movement and connection with nature.

Jesper Cornelissen
Jesper has always had a passion for movement. He is currently studying Psychomotor Therapy, where he learns how people can better understand and influence their behavior through experiential exercises. His knowledge of movement and behavioral change — combined with his love of being active in nature — now come together in De Buiten Beweging. Whether it’s a running session, playing frisbee, boxing, or taking a peaceful walk: Jesper wants everyone to experience the joy and benefits of moving outdoors.

Coaching program ‘Get active outdoors’

Sometimes in life, you hit a point where you feel stuck and know that something needs to change. Maybe you want to learn how to manage stress, boost your energy, spend more time outdoors, or move your body more. Or perhaps you simply don’t feel like yourself but can’t quite figure out why or what to do about it. The individual coaching program ‘Get active outdoors’ is here to help. In six to ten one-on-one sessions, you’ll work on a personal theme — always outdoors, and always in a way that suits you.

The program begins with an online questionnaire, giving you insight into key areas of your life, such as purpose, physical well-being, and overall quality of life. You’ll bring the results with you to the intake session — a walking conversation with Jesper or Babette, so you start moving from the very first meeting. Together, you’ll discuss your situation, explore your needs, and set clear goals for the coaching process. Movement will always be tailored to your level and preferences. This could include running, cycling, walking, playing badminton or frisbee, boxing, or any other activity you enjoy.

During the sessions, you’ll use movement as a way to explore how you respond to certain situations. Physical activity is a powerful tool to gain insight into your behavior and patterns. For example, through boxing you might learn how to set boundaries, or with a specific exercise you may experience how you react under pressure. In this way, you work toward your personal goals in an experiential, hands-on way.

Babette explains: “We observe behavior and hold up a mirror for the participant. This helps them make more conscious choices. Sometimes someone says, ‘I struggle with setting boundaries,’ and through an exercise, it becomes clear that this is also physically challenging for them. We then work on that together during the sessions, so they can eventually apply it in situations at work, for example.”

The final session ends with a reflection, where you look back on the progress you’ve made. What insights have you gained, and how will you apply them in your daily life? This way, after completing the program, you’ll be able to continue on your own in a way that feels achievable and sustainable for you.

Experiences from colleagues

“I signed up for the coaching to make good use of my SE hours, but mainly because I wanted to improve my health, find peace of mind, and get back in shape. Jesper or Babette came to the office, and from there, we went outside to exercise — often running, sometimes boxing or playing badminton.

I learned that I don’t always need to give 100% — exercising for fun helps me clear my head and deal with stress better. I’ve lost weight, feel more energetic, and am much more comfortable in my own skin. Jesper and Babette offered great guidance, and I’d definitely recommend the coaching to others.”

Colleague from Boxmeer

“Last year, I joined the coaching program with Jesper and Babette. I struggle to balance work and personal life and to make time for exercise, so the combination of movement and being outdoors really appealed to me. The walking sessions were a great way to get started — even in the rain.

Jesper also gave me practical exercises that helped me break fixed patterns and become more aware of what holds me back. Walking while talking got both my body and mind moving. It was an easy and inspiring way to experience coaching, and I’d definitely recommend it to others.”
